report that members expect them to take a strong stance on relevant issues.

One of the most important aspects of association membership is the feeling of belonging. Associations leaders report that advocacy is growing in importance to them and their members. To stand out, they’re becoming bolder, more outspoken and more opinionated than ever before, with 75% of respondents believing they take a firm stance on issues related to their industry. And it’s a member expectation – 71% of associations report that members expect them to take a strong stance on relevant issues.

“Our communication around advocacy has been really important in acquiring new members. It’s a tribal call. We have a sense of momentum around advocacy because it tends to bind people and they can see what the benefit of their membership is.”
